Move file to trash not working Tue Feb 21, 2017 6:02 pm • by gec118
Hi there,
I admit to being a very impressed Hazel novice, still using the trial version.
I have tried to get Hazel to monitor a folder I call "_temporary". I can get it to automatically move an image file to a subfolder called "Photos" but in the next rule I want it to search both of these folders (the parent "_temporary" and the subfolder "Photos") and move any files to trash that have been in the folder for more than a month.
Note that I am aware that if I have just moved a file into Photos it won't have been there for more than a month so for testing purposes I am getting it to move any file that has been there for more than 1 minute.
The screenshot below shows that I have found a file sitting in the subfolder Photos that meets the required conditions (I don't want it to delete the Photos folder itself so it tests that the target it a file not a folder) but it doesn't get moved to Trash. Any ideas?
Many thanks in advance.

I suggest going through this guide: https://www.noodlesoft.com/kb/hazel-tro ... ing-guide/

Also, it's important to note that by default, Hazel does not go into subfolders. See the sticky article at the top of this forum for info on how to create a separate rule to handle that.

That all looks very helpful. Thank you.
I should have noticed that sub-folders sticky post before asking my question.
Sorry.
