Rename if content not in the same line Mon Feb 13, 2017 2:24 pm • by adatis
Hi

Hopefully there is someone around who understands my problem, as I'm not realy english speaking. I have different bills where the content I wan't to use to rename, has nothing I can refer to (at learning stage with Hazel).
I want to have the file which I want to rename to, refer to a content which is below the reference value. Lets say I have in a row the word "Subject" and below that is the description, for example "Headset". I'd like to rename the file to Headset, but there's nothing else in this row I could refer to.

Maybe someone understands my issue......thanks for any help.

Regards Nicolas

First off, make sure you use the preview function: https://www.noodlesoft.com/kb/previewing-your-rule/

If the text is on separate lines, you can still try a pattern like: "Subject Headset". The space in between them actually matches any number of spaces or newlines.

Hi and thanks for your help.

I'd like to show a picture of the layout. How may I post an image?

You need to use another site to do that and then include the link here. imgur.com is one such site but if you are using any sort of cloud file service, usually they have a way of providing links to files.

Hi

thanks for your patience. So here's the link:

So I'd like that Hazel renames the file to what is writen below the titel "Beschreibung". Is there a way to do that?

Thanks and best regards

It depends heavily on how the text is actually ordered in the file. Again, the preview will show you that. You'll have to see what text precedes the text you are interested in and structure your pattern accordingly.
