Sorting PDFs by Date Fri Nov 01, 2024 10:34 pm • by mattrife
Hi Hazel Support Team,
I'm experiencing an issue with Hazel while trying to set up a rule to automatically sort my PDF invoices into folders based on the date in the file. I’ve created a rule that should detect the date within the PDF content, rename the file using that date (e.g., "Invoice 2024-11-01.pdf"), and then move it to a folder for the corresponding month (e.g., "Invoices > 2024 > 11 - November"). However, Hazel seems to struggle with recognizing the date in certain PDFs, or it sometimes skips over files altogether.
Do you have any advice on how I can improve the rule’s accuracy with date recognition? Or, are there specific file types or structures Hazel struggles with? Any insights on troubleshooting this would be appreciated!
Thank you!

I suggest going through the troubleshooting guide here: https://www.noodlesoft.com/kb/hazel-tro ... ing-guide/

Report back with results for a specific file.
