Hazel intermittently not renaming files exported from FCP

Hi everyone,

I’m using Hazel to automate file renaming for exports from Final Cut Pro, and I’m hoping someone can help me figure out why my current setup only works intermittently.

Here’s what I’m trying to do:

Because Final Cut Pro doesn’t have an automatic renaming feature when exporting stills or videos, I’ve set my export location to a specific folder that Hazel monitors. I’ve created rules in Hazel to automatically rename the files upon arrival (to avoid constant “file name is duplicated” pop-ups in FCP).

This has been a great solution—when it works. But the problem is: sometimes Hazel just doesn’t rename the file at all. I’ll export to the folder as usual, but Hazel does nothing. No errors, no rename. Other times, it works perfectly.

Has anyone else experienced this? Or have ideas what might be causing this inconsistency?

A few extra notes:
• The files are definitely being written into the watched folder.
• I’ve checked that the Hazel rules are active and the conditions are correct.
• I’m on the latest macOS, and using Hazel the latest version.

Any suggestions or workarounds would be hugely appreciated!
