File does not move- why?

Hi,

i have built a construct with Hazel that forwards a file daily to folders every day in line with my backup strategy. However, Hazel does not seem to want to move the file, even though the rule conditions appear to be met.

Date added is before today- rule matches
Date added is among the 1 most recent - rule matches

Move to folder "yesterday"

What is the problem here?

Report back with the results of each test.

When i start the rule with "Run Rules" -> "Rulename" the file moves.
When i start my computer at the next day the file doesn't move.

Edit: Updated Hazel to V.5.3.6. Now it works as expected.

Regarding moving the files to the next folder, I noticed that Hazel calculates to the minute, for example with the rule "Date Last Modified is not in the last 1 day". This means that a file that I edited yesterday ends up in the folder containing files modified the day before yesterday. How can I change this so that Hazel calculates on a daily basis?

You can try "Date is before Today" for yesterday.

Yes, i understand, but what can i do for the following folders "two days ago", "three days ago", "one week ago", "one month ago"?

Can't really do that as is. You could have a file match at midnight each day (use something like "Current time occurs at") and then try and also match against "is not in the last", taking into account the variance.

Hm. OK, thanks. I think I'll live with the fact that the files aren't stored exactly on a daily basis. My main concern is to thin out data as part of a sensible backup strategy. The construct should not be too complicated. I am still in the testing phase. I might upload a description of the finished construct here if there is interest.

Hi,

i looked into the logs and couldn't find abnormalities, but I am not an expert in reading logs. This morning I woke the computer from sleep mode and Hazel again hadn't moved any files. After I started all the rules manually, Hazel moved all the files as expected. Is there a hidden setting somewhere regarding Hazel's update interval?

Can you send me the results from the troubleshooting guide? In particular, logs for when you added the files but they weren't processed. Make sure to include the name of the file.
