One rule is giving the file a wrong name Mon Apr 17, 2017 4:32 pm • by mar8cie
I have 5 accounts at the same bank. I've written Hazel rules to move and rename all of them. All but one of the rules is working perfectly. The one that isn't working is giving the file the name of one of my other accounts. The file should get named xxBank Repo, but instead it gets named xxBank Main, which is the name another rule gives to the main account. I can't figure out why this could be happening. I have gone through all my Hazel rules thinking there must be another rule where I made a mistake that is grabbing the file first and naming it that, but there isn't one. Here are pictures of the rule setups. The one for the main account works right and names the file main. The one for the repo account does everything else it's supposed to except it also names the file main.Image

It's probably because the file is matching "Main" rule. Try going through the troubleshooting guide here: https://www.noodlesoft.com/kb/hazel-tro ... ing-guide/

That introduces you to the preview and rule status functions which should help out here.

aha. Got it. Just needed a fresh way to look at it. These two accounts sweep between each other and I hadn't noticed that in the body of the statement each references the entire account number of the other. I was only looking at the statement headers, but of course Hazel was looking at the entire document. I had to scour both statements for language unique to each and add it to my rules and now it is working perfectly. Thanks.
