This is probably very basic, so apologies if I'm asking the obvious (I'm new to using hazel for anything like this)

I'd like to drop image files from my camera into a folder and have them automatically renamed (I've just ditched lightroom which did all this for me). They come off the camera in the format IMG_nnnn.CR2, where nnnn is a sequential four digit number. I'd like to have them renamed in the format shotname_datecreated.cr2.

I can get it to append the date fine, but I cannot get it to lose the IMG_nnnn part and replace it with some text of my choice. To be honest while it would be nice if it prompted me for the contents I'd be happy for it to use generic placeholder text which i just rename in finder later. I've seen things online about using the 'custom text' option, but I cannot see how to add that.

Hazel version is 5.3.6 on OS 10.15.7 catalina

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me on this

If you are ok with placeholder text, use it in the Rename pattern like "someplaceholder_(date created).(extension)".
