Rule to Delete empty folders not working Mon Sep 10, 2018 8:20 am • by mikejandreau
My first Rule in the folder allows me to recursively go into subdirectories, like so: http://take.ms/ycffQ

My last Rule should delete any empty folder (the middle Rule moves the content to the appropriate directory), but does not. This is my Rule: http://take.ms/F79bJ

If I Preview The Rule on a show, it shows a Match, but even forcing the Rule to run for that Folder does not delete the empty directories.

What am I missing? Disclaimer: this is my first time using Hazel. I looked through the forums, but didn't find any solid explanation why this wasn't working for me.

If you use the Rule status feature (the eye button), it should shed some light on this. I suspect that it is matching the subfolder rule first so that's the one that gets executed. Since every folder is matching that, it never gets to your other rule. In that case, you'll need to re-order the rules to take that into account.

Reordering the Rules seems to have done the trick.

I'm not sure if my automation flow will work properly now, but I'll give it a whirl. Thanks!
