Newbie trying to deal with PDF articles-possible?

I am a total newbie to Hazel and to the kind of task I am trying to accomplish. I don't know if it can be done, and if so how, so please be kind to me.

I download a lot of academic pdfs from online databases such as JSTOR and Project Muse. They arrive in my downloads folder with a numeric name (I also have them set to open automatically in Skim). I want to rename them with the article title and move them to a 'process' file on my desktop. I tried setting up a Hazel workflow to do this, with url containing the name of the database, file type as pdf and the destination, but nothing happened, and I can't for the life of me work out how to pull the article title from within the pdf. Could someone please be generous enough to talk me through this?

Thanks,

There is a Spotlight attribute called "Title". Select "Other..." in the attribute pop up and search for it there.

Checking my PDFs, it seems it's only sometimes set so in the end, it depends on whether the creator added that metadata to the PDF to begin with. You can check this by selecting the file in Finder, doing "Get Info" and looking under the "More Info" section. You should see "Title" listed there. If not, then the author/creator needs to add that in.

Thanks for this, much appreciated!

Sadly, there is no title, and I don't think I can change how journal sites deliver their articles, so I guess it's a no-go, but thanks very much for the help you've given me :)
