Batch change Hazel rules Sat Jan 20, 2018 11:33 am • by svh1985
Hi,

Is there a way to batch change rules of Hazel?

I have a lot of rules that move files from /IncomingDir/ to /Invoices/2017/SupplierA, /Invoices/2017/SupplierB etc.
And for all those rules I would like to change the year, doing that manually would be tedious, is there a way to do it all at once?

Thanks

Right now it needs to be done manually. That said, what you might want to do instead is to change it to a single rule which does it once for every year. Not sure what the year is based on, but whatever date you use, you can then extract the year and have that be used for the folder.

I made this up, but I have the feeling it moves it 3 times. Is there a better way of doing this?

This probably should be in a separate thread but it should move it three times as that's what you specified. It moves it to that folder, then into a subfolder, then into another subfolder. You can combine the last two into one action, using ">" (the triangle pointing to the right) to specify a subfolder.
