Can I set a default parent folder?

I just purchased Hazel but in setting up rules I noticed a potential problem with my planned workflow.

Is it possible to set a default destination, or use a variable to specify one? I would like to have a folder for the year and within that have folders corresponding to various accounts. I have set up a number of rules to move incoming files accordingly. However, it appears that come January 1st I will need to go into each rule and change the destination to be under 2018 rather than under 2017. Is there some other way to handle this? Can I specify the <year> folder, or more generally, some arbitrary part of the path with a variable?

Can you use Sort into subfolders and have it also sort into the year folder as well? If the folder doesn't exist, Hazel does create it for you so there shouldn't be a reason to have to do that manually.

That is the solution I though of as well, use Sort Into Subfolder with Current Date as the pattern, then use Edit Date pattern to create a folder based on the Year, then sub Folders based on Month etc. would not have to change the rule to allow for the change of Year etc. See example below
