Hazel Begins Processing Before File Is Finished Saving

I am using a Fujitsu ScanSnap S300M. When scanning a multi-page document, the scanner software creates a file immediately and appends it as it continues to process the file.

The problem is Hazel wants to start processing that file before it's finished writing it, and therefore no Hazel actions complete.

The log output is:

2010-11-30 09:11:08.475 HazelHelper[840] Attempted to run watcher on undeployed folder: /Users/XXXXXX/Documents/OCR_Inbox.
2010-11-30 09:11:15.229 HazelHelper[840] Attempted to run watcher on undeployed folder: /Users/XXXXXX/Documents/OCR_Inbox.
2010-11-30 09:11:23.500 HazelHelper[840] Attempted to run watcher on undeployed folder: /Users/XXXXXX/Documents/OCR_Inbox.
2010-11-30 09:11:25.551 (null)[0] PROCESS01.pdf: Rule Process New Files matched.

The question is how do I create the rule to wait until the file is completely saved before allowing Hazel to perform an action on it?

Thanks for your help!

First off, you may want to re-setup that folder. That error has to do with Hazel being out of sync. I'd advise creating a temp folder and adding it to Hazel, move your rules to the temp folder, deleting that folder in Hazel and re-adding it to Hazel. After that, moves the rules back.

Otherwise, it's up to the other application to indicate it is still using the files. You may want to check some other threads as there are others using a ScanSnap. It's possible they added a condition to have Hazel wait a bit before processing.

I had a similar issue where Hazel would remove the ScanSnap image before ScanSnap had finished processing it. The rule I had set was to move to the Trash all files with a Date Last Modified that was before the past 5 days. Once I changed this to Date Created from Date Last Modified, Hazel stopped interfering with ScanSnap.
