I can't retag and don't know how to use comments and exiftoo

Possible bug:
I'm new to Hazel. So to debug as I went through a sequence of rules, I would have Hazel add or remove tags so I knew where it was in the process. However, once I removed tags, I could never add them again. I couldn't add them with a Hazel rule or by manually adding them. I even just created a simple rule that only removed a tag. And this was enough to cause the file to be untaggable. I tried moving it to different folders and tagging manually and that didn't work either. I was trying to sort photos on an external hard drive. I tried putting the files on my desktop and then I could tag them again. I ran the same rules on the same files on my desktop and everything worked fine. There is some issue with removing tags on an (or maybe just my) external hard drive.

As a sidenote, if anyone knows how add a comment to an image with the original date and time, I'd love to know. I found a script to make it the filename using exiftool, but I'd like it to just be in the comment section. My coding attempts have made the imaged into document files and created weird loops.

It's possible there's an issue with the drive. What filesystem did you format it as?

As for the comment, did you try Hazel's built in comment action?
