Moving subfolders based on files but keep parent folder name

I have been using the subfolders option sort of successfully to sort through a few TB of backups of backups across multiple drives.

Once issue I have found is that I am losing some context.

e.g. Move all photos within any directory from <Drive A> to <Drive B>\movedByHazel\

If the folder the photo was found in was A:\Photos\Backups\OlderBackups\"My Vacation December 2015", it would be useful to move "My Vacation December 2015" to B:\movedByHazel\"My Vacation December 2015" instead.

The folder my contain both Videos and Photos and Music though, so the preference would be to do something like:

Photos > B:\movedByHazel\"My Vacation December 2015"
Videos > C:\movedByHazel\"My Vacation December 2015" (I'm trying to build an iMovie/FCPX drive)
Music > D:\movedByHazel\"My Vacation December 2015"

Once I've deduplicated my drives, I'd like to embed this folder meta data into the images and videos in particular and adopt a LightRoom style folder structure (something like Year / Month / Day) and use tags and meta data to find relevant photos/videos.

I've tried to set up a rule such as:

"If any of the following conditions are met:"
"Extension is mov"
"Extension is wmv"
"Extension is m4v"

Do the following to the matched file or folder:
"Sort into subfolder" with pattern "source folder"
"Move" to folder: "MovedByHazel"

Unfortunately this isn't actually moving the sorted folder, it's moving the file instead.

I'm sure it's a dead simple fix I'll be kicking myself over, but if anyone could help, I'd appreciate it!

Moving the files instead of the folder is fine. In the Move action, click on the options button. You should see an option to copy over the folder structure. Check that and make sure it's set to "parent folder only". I believe that should do what you want.

Perfect, thank you! I don't know how I missed the Options flag on the folder but that did everything I needed. Think my system is going to be in a meltdown whilst it churns away magically sorting through my terabytes of messy duplicated drives
