Sorting bank statements into date order Wed Feb 15, 2017 5:49 pm • by Discovery
I would appreciate help please:
I have downloaded a batch of (150) bank statements from my online banking site. As they were all downloaded at the same time, they all have the same creation date. However each file is of the following notation e.g:
Statement 09-sep-12 ac 907589063.pdf, Statement 10-nov-10 ac 907589063.pdf, Statement 11-jun-09 ac 907589063.pdf. As you can see, each file name includes a date in dd-mmm-yy format. The files, once downloaded are not in any order. I wish to sort them into 'date' order and send the result to a new folder e.g "Bank Statements".

Can anybody please suggest how Hazel can recognise the date within the file name and thus enable a sort of the files?

I have tried for ages to make it work but with no success.

Help please???????

John

Search the help for "match patterns". That should show you the basic mechanism you need to use. Also, search the support site for date matching as there are articles there that should help as well.
