Hazel + PDF + scripting - experience? Sun Jan 08, 2017 4:38 pm • by panini
Hi,

I'd like to know what PDF application has the broadest scripting support.
I've searched but could not easily find a comparison.

Which do you prefer?
- Preview
- Skim
- PDFPenPro
- PDFExpert
- Acrobat Pro

The same goes for OCR capability.

Are there any initiatives here on the forum to map user experience in this view?
A list of applications, their usability with scripting etc?

Thanks for your input!

I don't have experience with half of those so I can't really comment. If you have them on your system, you can open their AppleScript dictionaries from the script editor to see how much they provide. You can also try searching around AppleScript sites to see what the consensus is there.

Of course, if anyone here has experience with the programs here, they can provide more insight.

Hi Mr. Noodle,

I've already looked into the AppleScript Dictionary of a couple.
Unfortunately my scripting knowledge is below par and I can't even begin to make an educated guess from what I see..
