Apply an OpenMeta tag(s)

I have a large set of files tagged using the OM standard, which I don't want to mix with Apple tags that I use for everything else. Using Hazel I can read OM tags but I now want to write some tags on newly created files. I know that a script of some kind is the probably the answer but I have no idea how to write such a thing. Could some one help me, please?

Note that OpenMeta is no longer supported. I suggest searching around. There is a commandline program that ships with OpenMeta but beyond that, you'll have to find someone to use that in a script for you.
