Tag Based Permissions (Access) Mon Nov 28, 2016 8:52 pm • by Newb_HazelER
I use Hazel to send files to the cloud and have had cases where files that I don't want in the cloud have been sent to the cloud (my fault) Is there any way to use some type of file attribute to prevent files from being copied to a folder? Don't know if this is possible or not. If it isn't it would be a great feature.

You can use tags. Just have the rule filter on the tag attribute. Or is there something I'm missing here?

I think so, but it may be out of scope and not what Hazel is designed to do. The problem is that I have files that end up in folders or the cloud that I may not want there, and I'm wondering if there is a tag or a file attribute that I could select to keep files from being transferred to a folder (either automatically or manually). Again, not what Hazel is designed to do, but I do know there are a number of us using Hazel to manage our paperless offices, so I can't be the only one who's experienced this. Thanks for your answer!

I'm not sure if there's a good way to do that. It's hard to control everything that might move files around. You could try having Hazel monitor that folder and if it sees a file there that shouldn't be, do something. The problem is that it can't move it back since it won't know where it came from.
