No more sleep due to HazelHelper

I am trying to fix the insomnia of my iMac with 10.6.2. After lots of trials and error I found out that HazelHelper is *the one*. As soon as I killed the HazelHelper process my iMac goes to sleep after some minutes. Starting Hazel again, and it gets no sleep anymore.
Is anybody else observing this?
Cheers, Robert

Running on Leopard, HazelHelper has never interfered with my systems sleeping.

Does it make a difference if you stop Hazel (this will pause all background operations but the helper app will continue to run)? Also, does it prevent your display from going to sleep or just your computer?
Also, if you could post what kinds of rules you are using, that might help.

On Leopard, I've noticed console messages the display which process is inhibiting auto-sleep, e.g. configd. Sorry I don't have a specific example of the format right now so this is more of a general "check console output for clues" suggestion.

Mr_Noodle,
indeed, stopping Hazel with Hazel Helper process still running has the same effect: my Mac goes to sleep. Starting Hazel again, and the Mac is sleepless.
The screen sleep works in all cases flawlessly.
My rules are all folder watching rules (Desktop, ~/Download, Safari Downloads folder), where I check for matching filenames and move/rename to specific target folders.
Thanks for looking into this issue!

Can you try disabling all rules/options for each folder one by one? Go to one folder in Hazel, disable all throw away options and all rules (tip: command-click the checkboxes to toggle all rules at once). Do this for reach one, one at a time (re-enable the previously disabled folder) and see if the behavior is isolated to a particular folder.
I'll try and think of other ways this can be diagnosed.

Mr_Noodle,
I've made some more trials and it looks like the Downloads-Folder is part of the problem. Howver, it looks like sleep comes later but even with the Download folders "active" the Mac will sleep in the end. Sidenote: both checkboxes in Downloads are off.
Maybe it does matter that I am on 10.6.3 now. If you still like to have look at my rules I'll put them in a mail.
For now my problem is kind of solved, but I will still refrain from checking "Wake on network access". Sleeping is just too unreliable. There seems to be too much factors counting into this, and Hazel was only one part of the problem.
