I'm flummoxed. Hazel is working fine matching dates in PDFs I download from companies I get invoices from. But if I print an email to PDF from the print command, Hazel's Preview is recognizing other text in the PDF, but not the date. I can open the PDF in Preview.app and select the text of the date, copy and paste it into any text editor and it looks perfect. But Hazel Preview has a big red X next com Content contain match "Receipt Date. I've checked the date format and that's fine. But the problem is only in PDFs created by the Mac's print command. Help?

Click that x. It will show you the text as Hazel sees it. If you still can't figure it out, post the text and your date pattern.

another possibility is that your pattern isn't checking for random text before or after the date. Try adding "anything" icons before and after your date pattern variables. HTH John

I did that and here is what I got back.

I also did the anything in place of the space and comma space to no effect.
I've done this successfully many times, but just not with PDFs from the Mac Print command.
Thanks.

Well, I tried again by sharing the email on my iPad's email app (Sparky) with a share sheet instead of a print command and the error persists. So it's not a print thing, but that makes it two sources of receipts that I'm having trouble with.

It's fixed. Apparently it was a replication bug. I had copied a previous rule. When I deleted the old match condition and made a new one, it worked perfectly.
