One document not being recognized Thu Jun 30, 2016 4:20 pm • by paulhubert
All my scanning is done with my Fujitsu ScanSnap ix-500. All my rename/move/notify rules had been working until my latest one which is to identify a scan as my Direct Deposit Advice from my retirement system. Though I can select text IN the document, so far Hazel hasn't recognized the matches since nothing is done!

Sometimes the ScanSnap turns the document upside-down, but no matter how I orient it (to account for that SOMETIME anomaly), Hazel isn't seeing strings within the scan!

Any thoughts???

For now, I'm having to manually rename and move the file.

********************************

I finally found a long numeric string that is static that Hazel DID match on, so this is working now, but wondering why other strings I was able to copy and paste are NOT recognized? I have set the default to create entire document text-searchable PDFs with my scans.

Note that this particular document is printed on either a Siemens or IBM large scale, roll-fed page printer using fixed point fonts, typically similar or equivalent to those of the old band LINE printers.

Check the file using the new preview function. If you click on the badge for that condition, it will show you the text as Hazel sees it. It may be the case that there are intervening characters and such which may cause your condition not to match.
