Folders within Mail

I confess to being unreasonably annoyed at unread (and tagged as such) email which shows up in Junk or Spam folders in Apple Mail. Those folders have the black oval showing the number of unread emails, and I have no desire to read those emails. I'd like to monitor those folders in Mail and "Mark as Read" automatically. Somewhat to my surprise, there isn't a way to do this within Mail>Preferences. Can Hazel monitor those folders in the "On my Mac" category within Mail? I can't find a way to access them.
