Can't edit existing rules or create new ones Wed Nov 18, 2009 9:09 pm • by ptuk33
Hi, I'm currently running OS X 10.6.2 and Hazel 2.3.4 (v608). For some reason, I cannot edit my existing rules (created after my upgrade to Snow Leopard). Nor can I create new ones. I can still delete rules, and some of them still seem to be running, but others are definitely not. Have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Hazel, but the problem remains. Meanwhile, in the log file, I keep getting messages like this:

2009-11-19 01:04:23.536 hazelfolderwatch[796] Caught exception in rule evaluation of file H-I, five Ps.pdf: The left hand side for an ALL or ANY operator must be either an NSArray or an NSSet.

Any ideas much appreciated.

I suggest checking the beta forums as I think this has been addressed in the latest beta (2.3.5b1). Let me know if it does or doesn't work for you.

This is happening to my with 4.3.5 on a "Keywords contain item" rule. Looks like when it examines certain apps it throws an exception. (The left hand side for an ALL or ANY operator must be either an NSArray or an NSSet.) Happy to provide more info if nothing comes to mind.

I *can* edit the rule and create new ones however.

It might have been better to post a new thread as this one is ancient and pertains to a much older version of Hazel and macOS.

Can you post the full error logs you are seeing?

Yeah, wasn't sure if you preferred to keep errors of the same all in one place so searchers won't be pointed several places but, of course, please feel free to move thread or take offline.

Anyhow, I receive the following errors on a few files in the downloads folder. Pasting 1 of the errors below. The others are essentially identical.

2019-06-26 12:06:09.471 hazelworker[40491] [Error] Error during rule evaluation: Received error while trying to evaluate rule CCV on file PDFpenPro.app

Can you export your rules and send them in to support? You can click the "Contact Support" button in Hazel's "Info" tab.
