Hi Mr. Noodle-

Just upgraded to v4! In reviewing my rules and logs, I noticed a sync job from my wife's machine to Dropbox is giving me an apparent error. Here's the relevant Log listing:

2016-05-04 11:40:24.973 hazelworker[61081] [Error] Could not sync file/folder: Could not sync file/folder at knitting to /Users/Marie/Dropbox/knitting.

The thing is, it seems to be syncing correctly. The sync rule is the same as your sync.hazelrules example.



Any idea what's up?

Check the sticky article about turning on debug mode. With that on, check the logs again. It should show a lot more output from the sync operation.

Hmmm. Looks like there are some Code 23 errors. What's that?

While I'm at it, let me ask: If there is a change to a single file in a folder or subfolder, is it true that Hazel copies EVERY entry in the folder again during a sync operation? Clearly that would not be a good thing to do if you were, say, syncing a new file to a large Dropbox folder, since it would copy ALL the files in that folder again, even if not necessary.

Can you post (or email) an excerpt with those errors?

The sync action just copies over changes. It uses rsync which is a well-established tool for this type of thing.

The Log file is quite ling, as you might expect, but here's what I think is the relevant error:

Usually there's some other message saying why that error came up. Is the destination of the sync a normal Mac (HFS) formatted drive?
