Script or Automator to add "to do" task?

Hi,

I am hoping to have Hazel watch a folder for a pdf with the word "edits" in the title and then send a to do in reminders. Ideally, I'd love if the to do had the name of the pdf file, but that isn't necessary.

I have clients that add alts to my design jobs in Dropbox but sometimes fail to let me know. I could use Notifications, but I would rather have a to do list so I can check the jobs off as I get them done.

I also use OmniFocus so that could serve as my "to do" list instead of Reminders, that's fine too (possibly even better).

Anyone have a solution, tip, ideas?

Thanks,
Cindy

It looks like Automator does have an action for this but it doesn't seem like you can have the message include the filename in the message. Automator does have a system where you can assign variables but I haven't delved into that much.

Alternatively, you can do AppleScript. Search around on the net as there are probably examples out there. Then search Hazel's help for "AppleScript" to see how to adapt that script to use in Hazel.
