Hi,

I have two rules set up.

First tells Hazel to look for folders and then performs following rules on subfolders

Second looks for kind 'Movie' and then
a: Moves to 'Video' folder
b:arranges into subfolders by year, month

I did exactly the same thing for images and it worked well. When I do this for Movies it seams to copy them all across but with a size of Zero kb.

Any ideas why this might be happening?

In case it is relevant the files are all being moved on a networked storage device (ReadyNAS). The source and destination of the files are all on the same readyNAS drive, I don't know if Hazel copies them via the MAC?

Thanks for any help.

Cheers

Ed

Are the movies being saved/downloaded at the time when Hazel moves them? If so, what program is doing the saving/downloading? Also, have you test it on folders not on the NAS?

Not downloading them. They are all files that just live in the NAS drive in the folders where I have imported them from my camera of smartphone in the past. In fact I have about 20 years of photos and videos that are in all kinds of different folders that I am getting Hazel to sort out for me.

I will try doing the same on the local computer and let you know what happens.

Try checking the logs as well. Go to the "Info" section and click on "View Log". See if there are any errors involving the files you are trying to move.

They appear to move OK on the local machine. Only tried a simple test locally.

On the network drive some of the pictures are a long way down the file structure. They are still copying with zero bytes and this is a typical part of the log file with no obvious errors;

What network file protocol does the NAS use?

I have both SMB and AFP operating on the NAS. I will check tonight which I used as I have the drive mapped as both types. Is there a preference for which one Hazel will work best with?

It's not clear nowadays. SMB is the default which indicates to me that Apple is moving away from AFP. I suggest trying both in isolation to see if one behaves any better than the other.

Now working using SMB! Thanks for the help. I do get the below error in the log on each file. I assume this is because it is on a remote drive (thats a guess). Or am I understanding that wrong?

The message about the uninstall log date? That's something else entirely and only an issue if you are using the multi-user app sweep feature.
