Frustrated again with Hazel

I have spent hours looking at this forum, the help file etc and I don't get why it is so hard to have some decent user doc. that walks users through the common use cases and scenarios - rant off.

1. How can I find the hazel importer tool ? I understand (buried on this site) that the ocr may have fields in different order so looking at the ocr view doesn't work.
2. Are the names used for custom dates reused across rules? If so where can i find information on this?

Why can't you create a graphical troubleshooter that shows for each rule and part of the rule that shows what didn't work - the Eye is worthless - not granular enough for any content matching which is most of what I'm trying to use.

How do I troubleshoot a rule that doesn't match on a custom date - it is pulling in another date (one doc) or not finding a match (another of my docs). I don't want to send in the file to you to t-shoot - how do I do it myself?

When hazel works it is magic but these days my hourly wage for its usage is in microcents - i would be better off just manually typing in file names.

Instead of using the hazelimporter tool, open the file in Preview, select all the text, then paste it into a TextEdit document. That should show you the raw text.

As for a troubleshooter, check the beta forums as you may find interesting developments on this front.
