Suppose I have a bunch of photos named <year>-<month>-<day>_<hh>.<mm>.<ss>, and I want Hazel to move them into folders like so:

/<year>/<quarter>/<photo>

Can that be done without creating 3 rules for every quarter?

When you use a date attribute in the Sort into subfolder action, you can click on it and edit its format. There you can specify it show the quarter. Try that out.
