A previous post seems not to be showing up, so let me summarize the problem.

Updated to 2.3.3 v606 and every time I attempt to Load Sample Rules I get an error that the file is corrupt or not a rules file. See screen capture: Load Sample error

As I'd only been using Hazel for a few days, and had only a few rules, I uninstalled Hazel via Hazel Preferences -> Info -> Uninstall. Then manually deleted the .plist and Hazel-related scrap in /Users/username/Library/Preferences. Then I reinstalled 2.3.3 and imported my license.

I set debug on, entered a few simple rules, then attempted to Load Sample Rules getting the corrupt or not a rules file error message. A PDF of the verbose log of that session is available: Debug Log

That log begins thusly:
2009-09-23 22:14:43.083 (null)[0] DEBUG: Program is licensed.!

2009-09-23 22:14:43.108 hazelfolderwatch[735] DEBUG: Error reading file /Users/alexanderdeluca/Library/Application Support/Flock/profiles.ini: Error Domain=NSCocoaErrorDomain Code=260 UserInfo=0x101a16f80 "The file “profiles.ini” couldn’t be opened because there is no such file." arrgh. Thanks in advance for any explanation or suggestions for how I might correct this problem.

This is a known bug. The sample rules were in an older format. While it is converted on the fly properly, it somehow triggers a sequence of events resulting in an error. I have a fix and with any luck, will deploy it tomorrow so hopefully you can hold on until then.

Also, for those who get Hazel not loading properly, that bug has the same root cause as this one so it should be fixed with the next update as well.

Mea culpa and thanks for your patience.

Thank you very sincerely for your prompt response and assistance. This is not an emergency for me - I happily await a fix.

Yup, that seems to take care of it. Updated, quit and restarted System Preferences, and Hazel 2.3.4 v608 interface loads, and all seems well. Sample Rules load without error. Extra bonus for me: a folder I'd made previously, that had disappeared in the upgrade to 2.3.3, has reappeared.

Seems fixed. Thank you! Now to get back to exploring it some more.

Sincerely,
