I need to free space on my iMac, and want to move old files to Google Drive or Box.net. It is possible to do that with Hazel? Anyone that has a rule to share?
Where are these files? Are they all under one folder or are you talking about files all across your drive? And what do you consider old? How long it's been in that folder? How long since the file was created? Or how long since it was last modified?
The files are local to my iMac, and all are under one folder. And, I want to upload files of more than one year since they were created, for example. I do not want to sync because this would leave the files on my disk, and I want free space.
If there are subfolders involved, then check the sticky article on how to traverse those.
Otherwise, I think it should be straightforward. "Date created is not in the last X days, Move to <<other location>>" (tweak to fit your case). If you want to preserve the folder structure, then you can find it in the options in the Move action.
I'm sorry, maybe I was not clear in the description of my problem. I know how to select old files. My problem/question is about upload those files to 'Google Drive', because I do not have Google Drive desktop, so I need to login to the web version. I want to upload and then deleted from the local disk.
Hazel can't manipulate a web page. If Google Drive has a way to upload using standard protocols (SFTP, WebDAV, etc.) then you can use Hazel's Upload action. Otherwise, you need to be able to get the drive to appear in Finder.
