Cannot edit rule. Sun Sep 13, 2009 3:45 pm • by jbaranick
Hi,

I just clean installed Snow Leopard on my computer. Before doing this I exported all my rule from Hazel. After the installation completed, I installed Hazel, registered it, and imported my rule. After figuring out some issues with the rule loading (some folders did not exist an the error message in Hazel was not very helpful) I got the rule up and running. The problem is that I cannot edit the rule. Whenever I do I get the following in the system.log:

9/13/09 12:36:50 PM System Preferences[422] HIToolbox: ignoring exception '*** -[NSCFString rangeOfString:options:range:locale:]: Range or index out of bounds' that raised inside Carbon event dispatch

For stack dumps, it's is probably better if you email support (go to the "Info" tab and click on the "Contact Support" link).

On Snow Leopard, if you go to your Library/DiagnosticReports folder and look for a report matching the program (in this case System Preferences) and time of your crash and send the whole file. There is critical information that is missing from this dump that I need to decipher it so the it is important you send the whole thing and not just an excerpt.

Also, is this happening for all rules or just specific ones? If specific ones, it would help to send those to me as well.

I only have one rule at the moment. I will send the dump later tonight. Thanks.

I couldn't find the folder: /Library/DiagnosticReports or ~/Library/DiagnosticReports. Is there somewhere else I should look?

Look under CrashReporter as well. It might be better if you just email me the rule in question though.
