Automatic deleting of TV shows from itunes Wed Dec 23, 2015 9:33 am • by yunkitho
Hello everybody,

I've been trying to use Hazel to automatically delete TV Shows from iTunes that have been watched and was not watched recently (eg 2 months ago). I've tried combining it with applescript but am having trouble doing so.

And there does not seem to be any conditions eg date last opened that change after it has been watched.

Is anyone able to suggest how I can do this?

Thanks in advance!

Date last opened is a bit flakey. You can try looking at all the other dates on the file and see if there is an alternate date to use. Or, if you watch the stuff through iTunes, maybe there is some iTunes metadata you can get at via scripting.

Yeh I've tried looking for other dates that change but can't find any. I'm not very good at scripting applescript, but I notice that there's a Passes AppleScript condition. Is there a way I can write applescript to look at the source file in itunes and to see if it passes the last watched criteria? I'm not sure if that makes sense, sorry if it doesn't.

Possibly. You'd have to delve into iTunes' AppleScript dictionary to see if it exposes that data at all.
