Date Created

I've been using Hazel for quite some time now, and it has been working pretty well. I recently realized some of my file names were a little off, and have been trying to figure out why.

Basically, I have a rule setup to search scanned documents for account numbers and such. I have Hazel rename the file, then move the file to the corresponding sub-folder. The problem I'm having is that Hazel is incorrectly renaming the files.

For example, today I moved a handful of files back into the watch folder. The date created of these files range from Feb 2015 - Dec 2015. Hazel matches these files and drops them into the correct folder. The files are all dated Dec 0001 (instead of MMM 2015), and some have -1, -1-1, -4, -4-1, etc. behind them. The created dates of each of the files are unique.

Any idea why this started having problems? It's not just with one rule, it's with multiple rules within Hazel. I've also tried rebuilding the rule from scratch and that doesn't seem to help.

If you look in Hazel's preview, is the date create correct for those files?

If you are referring to the preview when creating the rule, yes it display correctly. I'll be glad to post screenshots if that is helpful.

Please do. Also, can you post/email your rule? In particular the date pattern you are using to rename the file.

Here's a quick screenshot.

I've tried multiple date patterns, however they all seem to have issues. They were all working well for some time until recently. I'm not aware of anything that has changed that could have caused this problem.

Note that "content created" is a different date than "date created". Make sure that content created is actually set to a reasonable date or use date created instead.

I did not realize that, but I was originally using "date created" when I realized it stopped working. I switched to "content created" to see if it would have any different effect on the output. It didn't

Can you post the screenshots of the preview showing the date created?
