I keep getting multiple "zero KB" files with the following rule:

Any ideas why?

And when I try to delete those files I get this:

Where are these files coming from? Are they being downloaded from somewhere and if so, what program is doing the downloading?

Also, please check the logs. Go to the "Info" pane and click "View Log".

Or, in 2.3, conveniently select View Log from Hazel's menubar icon menu. :)

The log confirms that Hazel is matching the rule on the file.

I'm downloading a daily crossword from New York Times that has an extension of .puz. I want Hazel to monitor Downloads folder and move this file to a different directory (on my iSync drive, by the way).

Hazel is copying the file over and instead of throwing away if duplicate, it renames it - so that's causing the multiple files. It does this over and over. And never "moves" the file from Downloads - it stays there.

What program is doing the downloading? If the program is not using any advisory locks to indicate it is busy downloading the file, it is possible that Hazel is moving it before it is done so it's important to know this information. The dialog you get when deleting those files also points to this.

Interesting. I presume Safari is doing the downloading. I click the file on the NYT website, and a Safari download starts automatically.

Well, Hazel knows how to interact with Safari so that probably isn't it. I still suspect some other program is holding onto the file for some reason.

If you are comfortable with using Terminal, check out the instructions here: http://www.macworld.com/article/50933/2 ... inuse.html

That should hopefully identify what program is using the file.
