Renaming pdf documents to numbered files Sat Aug 01, 2015 7:13 pm • by Ann
Just recently started using Hazel and am currently using the trial version. I've created a folder rule that renames pdfs placed in the folder to numbered files, i.e. 01A, 02A, 03A...usually up to 12A. However I need the renaming/numbering to start from 01A each time I place a batch of pdf files into it. As it is set up now it picks up where the last batch left off. How do I set up the rule to start from 01A each time I add a batch of files.

Thanks so much for any advice.

Thanks for your response. I figured out an easy fix in that I can just delete the folders and create new ones and link them to the old rules within Hazel. However, for some reason, one of the pdfs that needs to be renamed keeps moving out of order and instead of being renamed 10A winds up getting named 02A. Example: when I place 12 pdf files in a certain order into the folder to be renamed beginning with 01A through 12A, they will not be renamed in the sequence in which they were placed in the folder. Any idea why this pdf will move up in the sequence?

Can you post/email the rule you have set up to do this?

I'm not able to export the rule settings since still using the trial version, so I will email screenshots. If there is a way to post them here I will, but I can't figure it out.
