Hi,

If I have a file with 3 tags: Tag A, Tag B and Tag C

Would the condition Tags - contain tags - Tag A, Tag B match the file or not? i.e. does 'contain tags' match a subset?

Best regards

It should. Are you seeing otherwise?

Um... yes.

There are only two rules for the folder and it looks like the first rule is creating some sort of clash.

The first rule effectively says if Tag - contain Tags; Tag A, then add Tag B and Tag C - this works
The second rule says if Tag - contains Tag A and Tag B then move the file (Tag C is common to other files I don't want to move)

If I turn the first rule off, then the second rule matches as expected, but not with both turned on.
If I use your inspector and click on the 'i', the drop box at the top has a checkmark next to the first rule, but not the second

That is something else. By default, a file can only match one rule. You can either structure/reorder the rules to take this into account, or use the "Continue" action to have rule processing continue even if the rule matches.

Thank you - understood. I was trying to use the rules as a set of sorting sieves.

It is working perfectly now.

When I said "It is working perfectly now", I spoke too soon...

If I put in a second rule to match the file as expected and then add a Colour tag to the file that does work.

However, if I put in an action to Move the file, it doesn't work.

Both the 'i' and the log show both rules matched on the file.

Is there something different I should be doing to move the file or structure the rules?

The general idea was to coarsely sort files in to a series of folders and then sort them more finely by tuning a set of rules to rename, tag and so on.

If you move the file out of the folder, the continue action can't operate on it. For it to work, the file has to remain in the folder.

I can understand that makes sense for the rule that contains the 'Continue' action, but the 'Move' action is in the second rule?

Does that mean that if a rule on a folder has a 'Continue' action, then none of the other rules in the folder can have a move action?

Sorry, thought you said that you did the move first, then added the tag. It should work the other way. I suggest checking the logs to see what is actually happening.
