Wait a minute for the changes to flush and then see if that fixes it.

It works! Cool, thanks for the excellent support. You have my registration fee :D

Well, I'm glad we got it sorted out. Thanks for working with me through this.

In the meantime, I'll be working on a fix and hopefully it'll be in the next maintenance release.

Here are my observations with Hazel.

I haven't been able to find a consistent reason for the file to be left behind. However, if another file is placed in the folder, both are then moved to the destination.

This happens pretty infrequently at this point.

Mostly, it seems to be doing what it is supposed to be doing.

Looking at the log file, I'm seeing some pretty decent gaps in output when it reports it's "Processing directories". Averaging about 5 minutes per output. That may be on purpose or not, but when a file appears in a folder it watches, it's usually acted on in less than a second.

So I'm going to consider this a minimal problem. At least one I can live with.

Thanks for the speedy response to my initial question and great program!

Hazel runs both periodically and also when something in the folder changes (file added, removed, renamed, etc.). I'm not sure why that one file was left behind but I recommend checking out the Troubleshooting post or you can contact me directly and we can go over more specifics.

I'll look into adding a log message saying which rule matched so you can more easily determine what's going on.

I'm having a similar problem.

I have a rule to move files whose names start with "PowerPoint Temp" to a special folder. I'm using Hazel 1.0.3

The rule picks up some of these files but ignores others. For example, its just moved "PowerPoint Temp 3" to the correct place but ignored earlier files "PowerPoint Temp 2", "PowerPoint Temp 1" and "PowerPoint Temp 0" located in the same folder.

I have tried "Run Rules Now" and the tip suggested earlier (deselecting all rules, restarting and re-enabling the rules) without success.

If I duplicate or rename an overlooked file, the new or changed file is sometimes spotted by the rule and moved - and sometimes overlooked.

I've tried changing the rule to detect names which contain rather than start with "PowerPoint Temp", but this hasn't helped.

Grateful for any ideas! Thanks.

First thing I would suggest is to start up Console.app. Type the name of your file in the search field and see what Hazel did with it.

Let me know what you find and we can go from there.

These are the problem here. Basically, Hazel has detected a loop (it moved a file out which got put back in). I'm working on making this less aggressive in the next release but for now, usually it will clear itself up (it will just take longer to move out). The problem is exacerbated if you tend to add files with the same names constantly, then this trips the loop detection.

In any case, it's being worked on.

Thanks.
