Moving JPG files, removes meta/exif data Sat May 30, 2015 5:30 pm • by aetjansen
Setting up some rules for managing photos, I wanted to add the device name in the file name after moving it into a date-based subfolder.

However, I noticed that the meta data was no longer present after the JPG file had been moved into the subfolders. This is not something that Hazel does though; it also happens when I manually move JPG files from my camera around.

I wonder others have noticed the same thing and if there is a way to save that meta data inside the file?

Is it being moved across devices? It may be that Spotlight is not indexing the files. You can try rebuilding your Spotlight index (google for it) to see if that fixes things.
