Hazel pushing system to 100% every 5 mins Wed Apr 15, 2009 7:45 am • by Yanwoo
I have a g4 1.4ghz mac mini running hazel with 1 rule. The rule monitors a network drive looking for updates in the last hour and then adds any matches to iTunes.

The problem is the machine flies to 100% cpu usage every time it does a scan (seems like every 5 mins or so). Of course this generates lots of hear, the fans rev up etc. etc. I'm concerned it's putting undue stress on my machine.

Is this normal??

Probably not but it depends. I suggest starting up Activity Monitor (located in /Applications/Utilities). If you see that the hazelfolderwatch process is the culprit, then select it and do "View->Sample Process". Email me whatever that outputs (go to the "Info" tab in Hazel and click "Contact Support"). If you could also send the rule you are using (if you are a registered user, you can export the rule otherwise take a screenshot), that would help.

Thanks.
