OpenMeta tags not recognised on external drive Mon Dec 01, 2014 4:57 am • by Dave61
I use Hazel to organise client files (and much more) on internal HD (current files) and external (older stuff). To maintain compatibility with my archives I have continued to use OM Tags to drive this.

Since upgrading to Yosemite I realise that Hazel is not recognising the tags on the external drive and thus is not sorting files any more. The tags are still there: both Tags and Tagger show them although curiously HoudahSpot does not (nor the OS X tags for that matter), and if I move a sample file and the rules back to the local drive Hazel works as expected.

Puzzled.

I'm guessing it's some issue with Spotlight and therefore more of an OpenMeta issue. I suggest checking their forums/site for help on this front.

Thanks for the reply.

I have now narrowed things down a bit. The immediate problem is Spotlight which is unable to index the external drive (I assume Hazel uses the index file) but the cause lies somewhere between Yosemite and Knox (which manages encrypted folders & drives using FileVault).

Love Hazel and frustrated that I cannot deploy my new, improved auto-filing system yet.
