Despite the many allures of the more popular Firefox, I continue to use Camino, the made–for–Mac Gecko Firefox alternative.

When Camino downloads something, it creates the file that will be downloaded, and a file of the same name with ".part" appended to the file name. When the download is complete the ".part" file goes away.

I'd like to make a system for Hazel to avoid downloaded files until they are complete. I'm thinking of some combination of Hazel and applescript to tag a download if a file of its same name with a ".part" exists. How to untag them is fuzzier.

To make matters worse, I'm a Tiger user and will continue to be so for a while, so I can't rely on Leopard metadata.

I'd love to hear what you all think. Thanks!

Actually, Hazel has built-in support for this already. Camino is actually the same as Firefox in this regard. If Hazel sees the .part file, it will know that it's currently being downloaded and not touch it.

If it isn't working, let me know.
