How to edit existing tags Mon Jul 21, 2014 12:28 pm • by SoCal_
I just got started with Hazel and realized that I started with some tags that use capitalization which I want to remove. Naive question-but how do I fix that?

For instance I have a tag 'Statement' that I want to be 'statement'. But each time I type the new tag into Hazel it changes it for the old version. I've tried right clicking, Delete, Backspace but nothing seems to impact the tags.

Thanks.

Hmm, I'm not sure if tags are supposed to be case-sensitive. The UI (as in Finder) does not really allow you to enter two versions. Currently, Hazel only removes the tag with the same capitalization.

For now, I guess you'll have to do it in two steps. Have the rule remove all the old "Statement" tags. You'll have to make sure it's purged from your system entirely so you'll need to nab every instance of it you can find and maybe even go into Finder's preferences and remove it there as well. Once it's totally gone, you should be able to add it back in with the capitalization you want.
