OCR and Neatconnect scanner

I am trying to scan in docs to a dropbox folder and then have hazel detect certain keywords and then send it over to evernote using a custom applescript, but this is not working. I suspect this is because neatconnect does not do OCR, can anyone help? Does anyone have another way around this?

I don't have any experience with neatconnect but if you open the PDF in Preview, you can see if you can select or search for the text within. That should give you an indication if the file is OCRed or not.
