You don't have permission to write to the folder...

Hi,

I've been troubleshooting this issue for a while and have now run out of ideas, so any help will be appreciated.

The basics are:

A rule matches in Hazel that moves a PDF file to a folder called OCR
A rule in Hazel for folder OCR matches and uses an embedded Applescript as listed here http://katiefloyd.me/blog/automatically-ocr-documents-with-hazel-and-pdfpen to open PDFPen pro 6 to do the OCR.
PDFPen Pro 6 opens and performs the OCR.
When it finishes and tries to save the file, the following message POPS up:
You don't have permission to write to the folder that the file "<filename listed here>" is in.

If I then manually cancel the prompt and try to save the file manually in the OCR folder, it also fails with The document "<filename here>" could not be saved. You don't have permission.

A Get Info on the OCR folder displays:
<myusername>(Me) - Read & Write
staff - Read only
everyone - Read only

And a Get Info on the file itself displays:
<myusername>(Me) - Read & Write
everyone - none

In the Hazel.log, amongst other, the following error is displayed:
"NSLocalizedDescription = "PDFPenPro 6 got an error: Applescript timed out.";

What I have done so far (none of which helped):
* Changed the permissions on the OCR folder and the file itself to allow Read & Write for everyone
* Completely removed PDFPen pro from the system and re-installed it.
* Exported the rules, removed the folders in Hazel, trashed the folders in Finder, recreated the folders again in Finder and then re-imported the rules in Hazel.
* Confirmed that <myusername> is the administrator in system Preferences
* Confirmed in Activity Monitor that PDFPenPro is run under <myusername>
* repaired permissions using Disk Utility
* repaired permissions using Onyx
* A review of the debug log doesn't reveal any glaring issues (although I have an untrained eye;)

Do you perhaps have any ideas what may be causing this?

thanks for your assistance,

Regards,
Jakes

If you can't save there manually, then I think the issue is with PDF Pen Pro 6 and you should contact them. Have you tried saving with other apps in that folder?
