Problem with alias to folder Sun Feb 23, 2014 2:58 pm • by ted220
Hi everybody !

I am newbie in hazel but have for me unreachable problem.

I have rule that observing folder A witch subfolders ex. names 1, 2, 3,4 etc. When I change name of subfolder for #1 hazel move subfolder to folder B and make alias to it in folder A #1. It works perfect.

So I have now in folder A alias #1 to folder #1 in folder B.

..and I try to write rule that, when I change name of alias in folder A from #1 to ##1 hazel delete alias and rename subfolder in folder B to 1.

So I should have only subfolder 1 in folder B.

Removing alias when I change name it is easy but how I can change name of folder pointed by alias ???

Is there any solution maybe easier.

Please do not post questions in the Tips forum. There's a sticky article up top telling you not to do this.

You can't change the aliases. The only thing you can do is make a new one. I'm not sure how you are removing the old alias, though.

I don’t know if You understand me.

I have file named #1 in folder B and alias to that file in folder A named #1.
I try build action that after changing alias name to ##1 will change file name #1 to 1 and alias in folder A will be deleted.

I don't think that is possible but you said that part was easy so I assumed you had some way. So, no, I don't think you can do it but if you found some way, you should post it here.
