Renaming a sub folder based on filename. Mon Dec 16, 2013 8:33 pm • by shorn
Hi all,

I am trying to automate my importing of iTunes media.

I have a rule set up that will

Look for a file with the tag 'Movies'
Move that file to folder called 'Movies' on an external HDD (where my movies are stored)
Place the file into a folder and give the folder the same filename
Import into iTunes

This works great, however I want to adjust the folder name that the file goes into.

For example, the file I tag with 'Movies' might look something like:

A Single Shot [2013] HD.m4v

- I want to drop the '[2013] HD' part so that I have just the name of the movie.

Being new to Hazel, I'm not quite sure how to achieve this, so any help appreciated! Thanks.

Look up match patterns in the help. You can use a custom attribute to match the part you want to keep and use that when renaming.
