Moving and adding files to iTunes help...

Hi all,

I've been looking into Hazel as a way to help automate my workflow of adding files to iTunes, however I have a set of requirements that mean it is not straightforward.

My iTunes library is too large to contain all my video files, so I have TV Shows and Movies on two separate external hard drives. (TV Shows on one and movies on the other)

When I have processed my video file (an m4v that has been created in handbrake and tagged in iDentify) I move it to the relevant external drive, and then add the file to iTunes as a referenced file. (By holding down the option key as it is dragged into iTunes)

Is this possible to do using just Hazel?

Ideally I would set up a rule that processes the file based on something like a tag. If the video file is a movie then I could tag it red which would initiate the move to the movie external drive, with a different colour tag for TV shows.

I can work out how to do most of the moving of the file rules but I'm not sure how I can add it to iTunes as a referenced file.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Hazel goes by the settings in iTunes so you will have to set up iTunes to copy or not copy in this case. It can't really do it on a case-by-case basis.

OK, thank you. I originally set up iTunes to copy to library so my Music was copied to the library, but I guess I could change that.
