Hello :-) Can I use Hazel for this particular project?

One of my educator clients has a huge transcript project. There will be four files, one per grade year, of transcripts in pdf form.

He would like electronic files for every student in the school, with a transcript in each file that is entitled "StudentLastName Transcript."He would like to update these each semester (twice a year).

Can Hazel help me automate some / all of that? I am seeking a program that automatically creates files from a named list or that takes a large pdf file and automatically peels off each page into a separate pdf file...

Thanks all!

It seems like you would need something more specific like a script or program to break the file apart. Depending, Hazel might be useful for organizing the files after they are split up but the actual splitting would require something else.

Unfortunately, I can't think of anything off the top of my head right now that can peel the pages off but do some searching around. As for the named list, it depends but does sound like it might require some custom coding/scripting.

I morphed a semi automated process by using PDF Pen Pro to split the pdf's and a free download called folderMaker 1.3 to create the multiple folders, then dragged and dropped. :D

Glad you got something working. Haven't heard of PDF Pen Pro before so it's good to know about.

I also heard Automator can do the pdf splitting but I could not get it to function for me....PDF Pen is a scaled down version of Adobe Acrobat for the Mac. http://www.smileonmymac.com
