Hazel DOA

Hazel has completely stopped working on my machine. I'm running vers. 2.1.3, which is apparently up to date.

When I click on Start in the info panel, nothing happens. I've uninstalled/ reinstalled, but that has not helped. I submitted a support request several days ago, but so far no response. Any suggestions?

Thanks

I emailed you about this but it appears you didn't receive it.

First thing is to make sure the HazelHelper process is running. You can check using Activity Monitor, located in /Applications/Utilties. If it isn't running, quit System Preferences then restart and load Hazel.

If it is running and still not working, click the "View Log" button in the "Info" pane and let me know if you see any errors there.

On a side note, if you mail in to support and don't receive a response, make sure to check your junk mail folder/filters. I try and respond to every support email that comes in and while it's possible that I may miss one, it should be a rare occurrence. Also, if you do find the email in your junk/spam folder, please mark it as not spam/not junk to train the filters for future emails from me. Thanks.

By that log message, it seems like there are multiple Helper's running. If so, you should kill both of them, quit System Preferences, restart System Preferences and then click on Hazel.

If that doesn't do it, then try logging out then back in or re-booting. If you are still seeing those errors then something deeper is going wrong. Let me know.

Tried all of that (killing helper, quitting sys prefs, logging out, rebooting). The problem still persists. Nothing happens when I click start.

Are you still seeing those error messages? Do you see similar error messages for any other apps? And also, I never got a confirmation on whether there were multiple or a single HazelHelper process running.

The main thing I can suggest at this point is to re-install Hazel. First do a full uninstall using the "Uninstall" button and then re-download it and install. If you have a license, you can export your rules and load them back in after the re-install.

Let me know if you need any more help with this or if things clear up.

For whatever reason, the last time I uninstalled & reinstalled, the problem persisted.

This time, it seems to have worked.

Very odd. Can't say I know what is happening here but let's hope it keeps working for you from here on out. Of course, if it happens again, post here.
