Could you check the logs and see if there are any errors? You can view the logs via the "View Log" button in the "Info" section.

Also, is it possible you have your iTunes library and iPhoto library files somewhere non-standard?

Well I dont think I have them anywhere none standard they are on my hardrive in /Users/me. But really anywhere OSX can find and run it should be standard shouldn't it. iWeb etc find iPhoto library alright when creating websites and Automator loads up iPhoto if you create an Automator function.

As for iTunes that is just installed as is. I did not change a thing or location for that. its just in my /Users/me/Music

I looked into the whole log which goes back sometime but the only error I found was to do with an app that I had uninstalled.

Well, I'd expect Apple apps to find other Apple apps. I guess if you have any other third party programs that also deal with iTunes or iPhoto then let me know if those work or not.

As for the logs, this is in the pref pane itself so you need to check the System Preferences messages in the main console logs. Just start up Console.app in /Applications/Utilities. Create a new rule and select either the iTunes or iPhoto action and see what error occurs when loading the list of playlsits/albums is.

well I have swift publisher and that works ok with iPhoto and finding the photos.

Thats the whole problem I cant create a rule for iphoto or itunes. I select Import into iphoto and then the selection box on the right is not selectable ie cant click it or anything so try to click ok and an error come up saying at least on of the actions has an empty field. I then check the logs and is shows nothing about the rule creation I guess coz I cant make the rule ?

I Could email you screen grab. if you want it what email address shall i send it to

These are the last entries I have in the log even after tryiing to create a rule with iphoto nothing but my rules running. I guess becuase Im not really creating a rule as it wont let me ?

The error won't be in the logs for hazelfolderwatch. The error is happening in the preferences pane so you have to check the logs for System Preferences.

Start up Console.app. Make sure the window says "console.log" at the top (not Hazel.log). If it doesn't say console.log, click on the "Logs" button and select console.log from the list.

Try and create the rule again, this time watching the log for System Preferences. Post what you find there as there should be an error when you try and create the rule.

Thanks.

Sorry about that I thought you meant go into preferences on hazel and select log not the actual preferences log.

Well I tried to create the rule and nothing is inserted into console.log for the time I am creating the rule

its now 17:16 and last log entry is for 15:49 for unison. I have included the whole log.

At this point you should probably email me so we can go more in depth on this. Just use the form here: http://www.noodlesoft.com/support.php and make sure to mention your forum handle so I know it's you.

I'll be in and out today but I should have more time tomorrow to sit down and look at this more closely.

Thanks.

Just thought I would say that your support on this matter has been excellent and let other people know that you can rely on Mr Noodle to help you out on issues.

This makes a great change and I just wish that other companies would do the same for its customers as noodlesoft has done for me.

Many Thanks

Aw shucks.

Just for the record, the problem seemed to fix itself. Nonetheless, if anyone else runs into anything like this let me know. If you are run the 2.1 beta, there are more log messages which should help to track down the problem (if there is one).
